HOUSEQ APC40 Mapping Overview v3.00

APC40 Midi Mapping v3.00 for Traktor

35

It is almost becoming an addiction to create the ultimate TSI mapping for the APC40. In the beginning I purely focussed on having a TSI on the APC which gives me additional options and makes more functionalities available next to my Reloop Digital Jockey II I own as well. But now I moved to a TSI supported the APC40 as a standalone deck featuring every hot function in traktor needed while playing the tracks!

I’ve created a whole new version of the TSI and remapped some old notes, so please check out the new image to be sure you understand the map.

Main Functions

Check out these main functions this mapping supports:

In short the main functions (the rest can be checked in the image map describing the mapping functions):

  • Full cueing options on 2 decks
  • Great loop functionality, including different loop lengts and relooping
  • 2 advanced fx units supporting delay, slicing, 8bar sampling and gater fx (don’t forget to use 2 advanced fx together and play with fx on fx3 while sampling it on fx4!)
  • 2 chained fx units supporting various fx’s with fx1 supporting cool sound fx and fx2 supporting beat-fx with delays (don’t forget to use 3 fx together, for example all fx on fx unit 4, which give you awesome delayed gater sounds while playing with the beatmasher as well!!)
  • dry/wet indepent per fx unit!
  • Xone 4 EQ supported on both decks!
  • Filter effect for both deck
  • and much more.. (volume faders, crossfader, auto grid-cueing on cue1 etc..)

The mapping keeps on growing but it is now already very grown up and good to use in every set. Be sure to check out the pre-conditions of this map (see image) to fully use the TSI including LED’s etc.

APC40 sends out different notes per production batch

1

Some of you already noticed that the APC controller mappings I’ve provided somehow don’t 100% correctly work on your APC40 with Traktor Pro. Most errors appear on the red/blue/green button sections, but also some people seem to have strange behaviour on the track selection buttons.

While I was checking out what could be the reason, I found a possible reason for all these strange behaviours; the APC40 notes-overviews are different per country and/or production batch and/or ?. Until now I’ve seen various notes-overviews, in total I’ve already noticed 3 different ones so far. I’ve no idea whether this can be set manually but nobody on any forum, nor on the Ableton or AKAI website, has any information about this. Some of you might not even care :) , but this makes sharing TSI and controller mappings for i.e. Ableton quite hard.

Using your Android as a touchscreen midi controller

0

Recently I was reading about stuff for the iPad (probably somewhere on DJTechTools) and I noticed the great touchscreen midi app (and other music stuff) which already is available for the iPad. My first thought were; I want this on my HTC desire as well!!!

So I hopped into Google and search for ‘midi Android’ and within seconds the beauty revealed itself; Fingerplay Midi! This simple program allows you to use pads, faders and xy-pads on your Android based mobile, via a wifi connection it connects to your PC in your network and enables you to use it just like any midi controller, only this time it’s wireless!

Next beta version APC40 Midi Mapping for Traktor Pro

I justed posted that other movie including the TSI, but I’ve already got a new version of this TSI for Traktor Pro (for your APC40). Wen I posted the previous TSI, that one was already outdated but I still had some work to do before publishing the new one.

Check out this short movie to get an impression of what you can do with this TSI already:

Most important is that you turn on 4 FX units and set 1 and 2 to chained, and the other units 3 and 4 to advanced. The rest will be selected automatically. Also set your APC40 to dumb mode or else it won’t work well! This TSI is still not a final version as many buttons and knobs still needs to be mapped, but a lot of fun can already be archieved by playing with this TSI. Note that I have a Reloop Digital Jockey II on the side so I didn’t map EQ buttons for example, but there is still room enough to map this yourself!

Have fun with this TSI which you can download via the link below:
