Next beta version APC40 Midi Mapping for Traktor Pro
I justed posted that other movie including the TSI, but I’ve already got a new version of this TSI for Traktor Pro (for your APC40). Wen I posted the previous TSI, that one was already outdated but I still had some work to do before publishing the new one.
Check out this short movie to get an impression of what you can do with this TSI already:
Most important is that you turn on 4 FX units and set 1 and 2 to chained, and the other units 3 and 4 to advanced. The rest will be selected automatically. Also set your APC40 to dumb mode or else it won’t work well! This TSI is still not a final version as many buttons and knobs still needs to be mapped, but a lot of fun can already be archieved by playing with this TSI. Note that I have a Reloop Digital Jockey II on the side so I didn’t map EQ buttons for example, but there is still room enough to map this yourself!
Have fun with this TSI which you can download via the link below:

Update: also check out this image, which describes the functions of the buttons

tired the whole night around
perhapse you like it …
you have set the loops …. I had another selfmade .tsi before and there I used the Loop+Size+Set Inputs
It is easyier and better how I find…. you don´t need to activate/deactivate first and press the right size… it will do it immediatelywhat´s hard to understand for me is the thing with the modifiers + fx units + Efffect select + values to set a button for a fix FX
have changed the FX Unit 2 to advanced because I need the Filter92 that is very nice for mixing. but want also a T3Delay like the first example here http://www.traktorbible.com/de/fx_usecases.aspx
must look at your examples that you have made for the FX3+4 Units … but the list of assignments is so long and confusing … .
-
@Steph At first I also set the loops directly when clicking on a loopsize button, but afterwards I noticed this is not always preferred. But that’s probably just a individual choice.
That FX part is indeed very heavy. I cannot describe it very shortly but to give you an idea of what 1 button does; a click on for example the first red button will send various commands:
- set filter
- filter on
- set filter amounts 1, 2, 3
- set filter buttons
- set own modifier range
- set other modifiers to 0
And that’s all for just one button
.Thanks by the way for the great link! I’ll for sure have a look at those suggestions and maybe change some filtering in the mapping to some of these awesome examples!
Maybe I can ‘sacrifice’ another chained FX for some additional advanced FX with those examples!
Feel free to update the comments with any cool movie on how your TSI works, if you have any!

I must try a little bit I think …
I am confused for your FX 3 + 4 settings
par. ex.
when I push the first activator button it activates the Beatmasher of FX 3
when I push the fifth activator button it activates the Beatmasher of FX 4but the settings are the same.
and this is for all buttons – beatmasher/slice/iceverb 1+5 2+6 3+7 4+8
something wrong by my tsi here or is it desired from you?
or is it not finished the idea to have 8 different presets?
or is it why you use FX 3 in deck A and FX 4 in deck B while you mix? so you need two different FX
you see.. confused .. confused at the moment….
I have also a problem to get something work
If I have written I have changed the FX 2 to advanced to have the Filter92 work
but how I have seen in your tsi it is possible to have on a button a fix preset… sooo …
I set the T3Delay to FX 2 …
yet I have the problem with the LEDs
I have let the button that you have set to “rec quantization” to activate the first FX 2 Button (Filter92)
for the T3Delay I have set “detail view”yet I need help… I want that the LED work right
but when I press “detail view” the light goes on on “rec quant”here I need modifier – but I need two or not? have the “if” “than” option (Cond1 Cond2)
I have seen that you have used 7 of 8 (just Modifier2 is free)
do I have a thinking problem here or am I right ?
I ask that because I just want to change the min. I can in your .tsiperhapse you can have a look at my .tsi ?
http://ul.to/z1cqk5I have add/changed the configs to the map
thank you for your help

I think there is a difference between our APC’s and what notes they are sending. I’ve read differences in this earlier, for example in this thread: http://www.djtechtools.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5484I think that various production ranges and/or countries may have ‘different’ APC’s. So that means if note ‘X’ is sending the FX3 in my setup, it might fire note ‘Z’ in your setup causing a whole different action to fire (like in this case FX4).
Too bad that therefore sharing tsi’s is a bit hard.
–Maybe you can check your notes first? Mine matches this one:
http://houseq.nl/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Akai-APC40-Houseq-NL-notes.jpgCan you check whether your colored (red/green/blue) button matches the notes on this image? I think you might have a different one (check that URL from DJTT, it also shows another notes-map)
Hopefully this makes sense to you
. Nice mapping job on your side by the way, I still need to add EQ as well

I have the same .. puhh
thanks for the notes.jpg I had found another one and there are differences in the notes … but I have the same as you…and I have seen that I am wrong with the opinion that there are no differences in the presets…
par ex slice1 .. when I press it for FX4 there are buttons activated … but I must hold it … and I have just press the buttons ….yeah thanks … I need the EQs but have problems with the LED again….
I must start Ableton once to have the dump mode
than start Traktor and one time they have the LED and another time not… I don´t know why but it makes me angry … perhapse when you add it to your .tsi you will get the same problem.. when not let me know it pls…. I wanted to ed the LED outputs to the knobs but than the knobs stutter … would be nice to have the full LED range and not just one line… -

I didn´t know before that I must add the magic +8 too the outputs
CC20 = CC28 for the right config… have set it to pan 03 …. thanks again for your nice .tsi – Traktor makes a lot of more fun with it
when I have finished all the rest of my changes I upload it for you …
have a nice weekend …

Hi HQ,
my last .tsi and the mapping http://ul.to/crba2u
I have changed some things that I find better/easier to handle… you will see
okay the new Dry/Wet for the FX3+4 needs getting used to but for my mixing I find the 100% settings to hard for the presets … better to have the choise to regulate it.
I have add the new FX Unit3+4 On&Off that were missed by me.
feel free to try/add/change/review it

Steph awesome work! Great job on enhancing the TSI again! Thanks for the image as well.
I played with the TSI already and great to play with all those FX and perfect additions to the eq, faders and deck buttons! I’ll changed the TSI a bit according to some of my preferences and then share a whole new one in a new post, I’ll update the image as well with both my new comments and your comments and of course put some credits to you as well!
Things I’ll probably change slightly:
- Put EQ from left to right instead of 2 blocks of 4 rotaries
- Remove the sync buttons, as on the soft buttons there are 2 sync buttons which I like more as this is closer to my ‘hand’ when cueing live.
- Make sure dry/wet doesn’t get to 0 when activating the FX3 or FX4, I’ll definetly keep the idea of dry/wet on that rotary! great addition! -
