Nope this won’t be a huge post, just a f$^*&&*^cking HURRAY! from my side after first shortly using the demo and now just bought and installed the new and awesome Traktor Pro 2 from Native Instruments!!

I already used the demo and checked out my mappings from my APC40, APC20, my DDM4000 mixer and also my external soundcards. Everything worked pumping awesome and so couldn’t wait to buy it today!

This weekend I wanted to remix the track from Martin Solveig ft. Dragonette – Hello, but then some friends reminded me of the awesome track from Rihanna – S&M. But I noticed that this track is not that as ‘club’ as I would like to have it in my collection, so I promised to do a quick and dirty remix!

Instead of sampling everything into Ableton (which is still not really my style), I focussed on keeping it my kind my kind of style so I decided to remix it ‘live’ and even record my movements into a movie so you could notice I’ve done it without tricks;)

The counter track (more its samples I’ve cut) you’re hearing the bass from is Jordan Peak – Body Double.

Yeah I know, you need to have things to dream about. But I know for sure that I’ve plenty of things to dream about, so just get me one of these, NOW!

I now got an awesome setup already, but I want to move those APC’s into a CUE, FX and SAMPLE dedicated setup, to have awesome options to play with a functions of Traktor Pro 2 (T2!), without shifting through modes etc.

So I want to have some controls next to my midi mixer to control the decks itself, like this:

Okay, it’s fine by me to start with a single controller first, but I really need a jogwheel. That’s something I do miss from the Reloop Digital Jockey II I’ve sold earlier. This controller is also good for Traktor Pro 2 (T2, I’ll keep saying that), but still I want to use my APC to be able to jump and play around with massive effects.

More to come probably, until my current room will be too small to hold all that stuff

After moving to a different setup (focussing on midi and digital audio) I also connected cams to record my movements. Not just to show how good my dancing skills are , but mostly (and even more fun!) to show the things I do on the controllers, the mixers and my PC. Therefore I’m also showing the software so you can also see what I’m looking at on my screen!

I’ve uploaded a video testing this and it already looks great, although not perfect yet. But feel free to decide this for yourself!

Today I’ve spent some time on making changes to my DJ setup. Main thing was to do some mapping on my DDM 4000 which will replace my old 5000FX which of course isn’t digital and/or midi-compatible.

This mixer combined with my APC40 + APC20 will unleash the controllerism beast in me and make sure I’ll be able to have the best experience on mixing, cueing, fx’ing and sampling! It might take a little while before the best mapping will be finished, but for now it’s usable and therefore I’ve created a new (‘test’) mix!

Please make sure you’ve set your APC40 into dumb mode, check out how on my vid on Youtube. Also make sure you have 4 effect banks available for max use of the effects. Effects 1 and 2 must be chained, effects 3 and 4 must be advanced. Also I suggest to set effects on unit 1 and 2 to delay/reverb and filter, and effects on unit 3 and 4 will be switched automatically.

I will not give you support on this one, as this is old now. But I just wanted to make sure you had the TSI from this movie. Another more advanced 2 deck will follow soon!

Today I received an email from the guys (I’m sure there only guys in there, no girls on the vid’s sofar ) from DJ Techtools that there own customized controller called the ‘Midi Fighter’  is available for order from today!

Although I’m currently finding my way through all my controller stuff in my ‘dj room’ at the moment, I cannot resist having the great custom DIY midi beast myself! Therefore I decided to order this piece of creativity and designed my own custom fighter as shown above!

I ‘ll have a wonderfull black casing and a shiny see through plate, this way no dust will gather itself around somewhere within my controller, but thanks to the transparant plate you still see the beauty of what’s inside! The finishing touch is by using the 16 arcade style white buttons which make this a real black & white beast. Hopefully those led’s are gorgeous blue which will make the beast even more gracious!

Check out the controller yourself at their shop and customize your own favorite color! I hope to have mine somewhere end of this month (I’m ordering from Holland, they are shipped from LA, USA). More pics will follow then it’s in!
